What's Happening

Forest Pest Hunters Needed!

HWA has the potential to wreak havoc in the Adirondacks! To help fight the battle, the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program (APIPP) has launched several “citizen scientist” initiatives to monitor hemlock trees on private and public lands in the Adirondack Park. As an APIPP partner, ESSLA is looking for wants members to "adopt a trail" of our own on the east shore of Schroon Lake. We are particularly looking for volunteers to survey hemlocks on either side of Adirondack Road in the winter months (November to April), which is the most practical time to hunt for HWA.
